Architects' professional indemnity (PI) cover has been implicated in the row over the new Scottish Parliament building in Holyrood, Edinburgh.

The project manager said that Enric Miralles, the architect who designed the landmark but died during the project, should not have been chosen because of his low levels of PI cover. He said that Miralles was 44th preference for the job, but would have been 70th if his PI levels had been spotted.
