Insurance Times has today (21 January 2025) launched its 2025 eTrading survey, the results of which will form the basis of this year’s Five Star Rating Report: eTrading.

The market-leading publication invites UK brokers to anonymously share their experiences from the past 12 months of using insurers’ extranet platforms and software house systems to digitally trade and secure covers for clients.

With every passing year, more products, services and innovations are being implemented on insurers’ extranet platforms and software houses, emphasising that eTrading is increasingly becoming a more standard way of doing business for a number of brokers nationwide.

Last year, approximately 1,000 brokers took part in Insurance Times’ eTrading survey, voting for their preferred insurer extranet, software house and insurer via a software house system.

Brokers additionally provided feedback on the broker management system their firm uses.

This anonymous broker feedback is used by both insurers and software houses to update and transform their eTrading systems and processes.

The 2025 survey will close at midnight on 23 March 2025. Click here to complete the survey.

All brokers that complete the 2025 eTrading survey will receive an exclusive summary report and be entered into a prize draw to win £250 worth of John Lewis vouchers.

2024 review

Last year, brokers that eTraded via insurer extranets awarded Aviva Fast Trade and Zurich Online a maximum overall five star rating.

This marked the sixth consecutive year that Aviva Fast Trade earned this score, while Zurich Online’s 2024 five star result reflected a rebound from a four star score in 2023.

The insurer extranets that achieved an overall four star rating in 2024 were AIG Extra, RSA Online, QBE Fastflow and Allianz QuoteSME.

NIG’s TheHub, Markel Online, Chubb Portal and Axa Connect achieved an overall three star rating last year, while Covéa Insurance Online dropped down to a two star score in 2024 after earning four stars back in 2023.

The eTrading survey also investigates how brokers perceive the broker management system in use at their firm. Software house Acturis secured first place among software house platforms for the eight consecutive year.

  • Please note: The eTrading survey is open until midnight on 23 March 2025, so please take your time and provide detailed feedback of your eTrading experiences over the past year. Simply revisit the survey link from the same computer you started on and it will take you to where you left off.
