’We look forward to staying closely connected with each charity and witnessing the difference they make in young lives,’ says managing director
Ansvar Insurance, a commercial insurer for the third sector, has chosen three charities to receive £75,000 each over the next three years through its Programme of Giving initiative.
Its chosen charities include Sussex-based Esteem, Oxfordshire-based Train and Hand in Hand, which has locations in London and Manchester.
Esteem offers counselling, work experience and life skills workshops for young people aged between 14 and 26.
Ansvar’s funding will support its Positive Change Programme, which focuses on improving emotional management, social skills and mental wellbeing through activities like boxing and surfing.
Train provides detached youth work in public spaces, offering support to young people in parks and town centres.
The charity aims to use the funding from Ansvar Insurance to double its reach – it hopes to interact with 400 young people annually by hosting more detached youth work sessions, including in underserved areas. It also wants to develop a pathway programme for young people.
Hand in Hand, meanwhile, encourages young people to engage in volunteering. The monies contributed by Ansvar Insurance will enhance its volunteer training and improve the charity’s outreach.
Sarah Cox, managing director at Ansvar Insurance, said: “We are delighted to support Esteem, Train and Hand in Hand as they continue their vital work with young people.
“We understand the significant financial pressures facing charities and we hope this funding will support these organisations in expanding their reach and sustaining their impact.
“We look forward to staying closely connected with each charity and witnessing the difference they make in young lives.”
Beyond donations
Cox explained that Ansvar’s Programme of Giving, which first launched in October 2024, goes “beyond monetary donations”.

She continued: “It encompasses our community hub – a free and bookable office space in our Brighton offices, available to local charities and not-for-profit organisations – as well as a colleague volunteering and fundraising initiative and our three-year cycle of grant giving.
“This initiative is more than just a donation – it is a partnership.”
