Allianz Cornhill Engineering has encouraged brokers to raise awareness of health and safety issues for those working at heights.
The move follows figures from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) showing that 68 workers died and nearly 400 were seriously injured as a result of falling from a height in the workplace during 2001/2002.
Allianz Cornhill Engineering chief engineer Phil Wright said: "The HSE states that experience shows that these accidents usually arise due to poor management control rather than because of equipment failure. With the new regulations having a strong focus on risk assessment, this cannot be ignored.
"Enforcing authorities and courts are becoming more active in this area and a broker can do a great deal to help ensure that their client complies with them to reduce employee accidents and fatalities," he said.
The Work at Height Regulations, aimed at reducing deaths and injuries resulting from falls from heights, will be come into force in 2004.
