Marsh has launched an "aggressive" assault on the Scottish market declaring that it wants 100% of the market share in the region.
John Nicholson, executive director of Marsh's corporate client practice, told Insurance Times: "There are five zones in the UK and Marsh sits on top of the heap in terms of market share. We have probably, in simple terms, in excess of 35% of the market share [in Scotland] but we would like to get 100%.
"My ambition is to see clear blue water between us and the transactional broker. If we bring together Marsh and McLennan Companies, and look at all those risk solutions then nobody can match that."
The global broker recently expanded its Scottish business with the appointment of 17 new recruits across its Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen offices.
Its sister companies Kroll and Mercer Human Resource Consulting have also recently expanded in Scotland.
The new employees will specialise in business development and client advisory roles across a variety of Marsh's businesses in Scotland including the Risk Trading Practice, the firm's small and medium sized business unit.
Heath Lambert recently announced its intentions to boost its presence in Scotland, strengthening its Aberdeen team and looing at opening a Glasgow office .
