As part of its expansion strategy in the South of England, Equity Insurance Group has acquired Sutton broker, Higgins Sheppard Stewart Ltd. This follows Equity's purchase of Worthing-based broker Dunglison & Co Ltd last month.
Roger Higgins owns the brokerage, which was established in the 1970s, and Equity confirmed that he and all existing employees would continue administering its 2,500 personal lines and commercial clients.
Mike Hutton, Equity's managing director of branch broking said: "Higgins Sheppard Stewart is another successful business fitting the group's acquisition criteria. It's a well-established, strategically located brokerage in a region where we continue to seek similar opportunities."
