Broker firm Camberford Law has become provisionally accredited to deal at Lloyd's.
The move makes the firm, which is based in Bromley, Kent, one of 11 to be accredited at Lloyd's since the market was widened to include non-London brokers earlier this year.
Chief executive Richard Sheikh said: “We are delighted to receive Lloyd's provisional accreditation. For us it heralds an exciting period in our development as a substantial amount of our business is written in the City.
“Over the period of the last two years, we have doubled our turnover and, by becoming Lloyd's brokers, we will be able to access new markets, helping us to expand further and achieve our goal of being in the top 50 insurance brokers in the UK.”
Only accredited Lloyd's brokers can place risks in the Lloyd's market.
Out of more than 300 applications from firms of brokers around the world, 36 made firm applications and 11 are now provisionally accredited. Lloyd's requires brokers to meet high standards and will only fully accredited firms after three years.
Darragh Gray, manager of worldwide markets at Lloyd's, said: “The purpose of the exercise is to widen access to the market and to make it easier for intermediaries around the world to do business at Lloyd's.
“But we must be satisfied that brokers who wish to deal with us meet our own rigorously high standards to protect the brand and reputation of the Lloyd's market.”
