Fresh blood for new equine brokerage
Specialist bloodstock and private client insurance intermediary Weatherbys Hamilton LLP has announced plans to appoint four new partners from 2013.
The new company is a partnership between horse racing specialists Weatherbys and insurance entrepreneur Charles Hamilton.
The four new partners will be joining the Northampton-based company to help realise the new firm’s ambitious growth strategy. They are:
- Jonny McIrvine, a former professional three-day event rider and trainer, who was previously head of bloodstock at Lycetts and a director of its rural division
- Alec Moore, who played an instrumental role in growing the high net worth division of Gauntlet and managing the insurance needs of some of the largest privately owned houses in England
- Richard Chugg, who has a background in the breeding industry and is the former head of Lycetts’ Marlborough office, as well as managing a portfolio of property and bloodstock clients in the south west for the past three years
- Beth Sharkey, whose lifelong passion for horse racing and breeding has seen her with important roles at the British Bloodstock Agency and Hamilton & Partners.
Weatherbys Hamilton chief executive Charles Hamilton said: “We’ve now attracted some of the most talented people in the market and will be delighted to welcome them to the Weatherbys stable, with its tremendous reputation and reach.
“The current high net worth model has become stale, and we have an opportunity to innovate and create something different for our clients – founded upon the highest quality of service and product. We’re confident that our offering will set a new standard in private client insurance.”
