Wellington Underwriting is spearheading a charity car chase to France. The cars2carcassone treasure hunt is being organised to raise money for Toynbee Hall, a local charity that supports disadvantaged young people in Tower Hamlets.
In the event, the listed insurer will lead a group of gaudy jalopies from Lloyd's to the medieval French city of Carcassone. The teams will set off from Lloyd's on Friday 15 September at 11.00am and arrive, all being well, at Carcassone on Monday 18 September.
David Turner, of Wellington Underwriting, said: "It should be great fun. Everyone is very enthusiastic and keen to be part of this charity event. Wearing fancy dress and driving decorated cars is a novel way of raising money for Toynbee Hall and having fun at the same time. We wish everyone a huge success and hope this inaugural event is the start of greater things to come."
Richard Springer, of Young People and Families, said: "This event will definitely go a long way towards ensuring that we can go on supporting disadvantaged young people and their families living in Tower Hamlets”.
