The Stroke Association Insurance Services, a division of Heath Lambert Group, has announced a breakthrough in opening up travel cover to a much wider market.

The key improvements in the new travel insurance include:

• Single trip cover for holidays up to a year in duration will be available to almost all applicants, regardless of their age or the medical conditions they declare

• No more separate medical screening calls – everything can be done through one call to The Stroke Association Insurance Services.

Diane Caplehorn, affinity manager for Heath Lambert Group, said: “One of the most important things for us was to source a product that was available to people immediately following a transient ischaemic attack (TIA or more commonly known as a mini stroke) or stroke.

“In addition, customers were telling us they wanted a more seamless approach to applications and for us to be able to offer cover to almost everyone without age restrictions. The fact that we have been able to source that, and at a competitive price, is fantastic. There is still more to be done, though. We intend to keep lobbying insurers to seek further improvements in the cover we are able to offer.”

Each year over 130,000 people in England and Wales have a stroke. It is the third biggest killer after cancer and heart disease.
