SMEs rated legal protection as the most valuable business benefit, including health insurance, said research from the Co-operative Bank.
The bank said it developed its Clarity business banking package in response to its research, incorporating a commercial legal protection product from DAS.
DAS provides Clarity account holders with legal costs cover of up to £50,000 per claim, 24-hour legal and tax helplines, and personal counselling for all employees and their families.
DAS corporate partnerships manager Andy Westall said: “Legal protection has become much better understood and appreciated by potential customers.
“The Co-operative Bank has flagged up the genuine concerns facing smaller businesses and now provides a highly affordable solution to them.
“It is pleasing to see legal expenses insurance so high up the ‘wish list' of one of our key target markets.”
