Details given by crash-for-cash gang without Shaikh knowing

Rashid Shaikh from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire was found not guilty of conspiring to defraud insurance companies through crash-for-cash schemes at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, the Bolton News reports.

The charge was connected with Mohammed Patel, aged 23, of Nottingham Drive, Bolton, who was the driver in more than 90 such crashes.

Patel gave Shaikh’s details to one victim to make a claim worth up to £21,000 from Norwich Union.

Gang admits guilt

Shaikh said his name was used to claim for a whiplash injury without his knowledge.

Iqbal Khan, aged 49, and his son, Ershad Khan, aged 22, of Argo Street, Daubhill, and Patel have all admitted their part in the conspiracy.

They will be sentenced, along with 14 other members of the gang, on 21 October.
