Education officials in Rugby are going to have to find an extra £7.5m to rebuild a burned-out school as its insurance cover will only meet half of the anticipated costs.
The Avon Valley School was virtually destroyed by fire in June, and education bosses want to replace it with new state-of-the-art premises.
However, these will cost an estimated £15.5m to construct. The school's insurance premiums amounted to just £8m.
Officials hope that its location in a deprived ward will help to secure the remaining funding that is required by way of external grants.
