The Rubicon Corporation said it was hoping to recruit ten brokers within the next six months for its new outsourced personal lines service.

Aimed at commercial lines or schemes-focused brokers who had smaller personal lines operations, the new service will be white label and tailored to individuals brokers’ needs, said Rubicon business development manager Doug Phelan.

“We want to grow the service in a sensible way, as we want to find the right broker partners,” said Phelan.

The service will work on the basis of sharing commission with the broker, said Phelan. The actual rate would be calculated on an individual basis, depending on the level of service required by the broker.

Rubicon’s insurer panel, including Allianz Cornhill, Provident and Fortis, will underwrite policies sold through the service. Phelan said the company aimed to expand the panel to 13 or 14 insurers as service take-up increased.

The personal lines service will initially cover motor and home insurance products, with related add-ons, such as uninsured loss recovery and breakdown cover for the motor policies, and lost key and family legal protection cover for the home insurance policies.

Phelan said: “We will look at widening the product range in the future, but brokers have told us that the products they want most urgently addressed are motor and home.
