RAC Warranty said it has won contracts worth £18m in premium income since the beginning of April 2004.

The new contracts include Available Car, Fords of Winsford, Scania, Stoneacre, Carnation, Ford Direct, Benfield Motor Group and Marshalls Motor Group, among others.

RAC Warranty managing director Don Pinkney added: “This has been our best year ever for new business wins, and we look to be on target to double the number of policies we sold last year.

RAC Warranty director of underwriting Russ Kitchin said the contract wins came on the back of a restructuring of its sales team, meaning the company could take advantage of the increased volume of business.

RAC Warranty, formerly known as Motorway Direct, is the warranty arm of RAC Motoring Services.

RAC’s European managing director Abu Shafi said: “Since Motorway Direct became a partner of RAC, they have more than fulfilled our expectations.

“There is a perception that the warranty industry can be full of traps for the unsuspecting, but RAC Warranty has made sure that the trust demanded of a company bearing the RAC name is apparent in all of the customer and business to business touch points.

“The quality of our underwriting relationship is unique and provides a great platform for the recently renewed brand license agreement extending it until 2011 at least”.
