Specialist indemnity agency PI Direct has signed deals with Catlin Insurance Company and Hiscox Insurance Company for capacity for the 2004 solicitors' season.
Each insurer would provide 50% of PI Direct's capacity, it said.
To date, PI Direct had focused mainly on firms with one to four partners, it said. But in 2004, in addition to maintaining its existing book, PI Direct said it would be targeting the two to ten-partner sector.
It would not be writing any new sole practitioner business, given Hiscox's capacity on the sole practitioners scheme, but would be renewing its existing sole practitioner book, the company said.
