AIG Europe said it is to launch a comprehensive office insurance policy in March through its broker network.

It said the Office+ Disaster Recovery product combined comprehensive office insurance (property, business interruption, equipment breakdown, employers' and public liability cover) with a range of services tailored to meet the need of SMEs.

AIG said the disaster recovery services provided as part of the policy included providing alternative office accommodation, six networked PCs, furniture, meeting rooms and reception area, redirection of telephone calls, and an onsite event manager to ensure relocation proceeded smoothly.

It said the Office+ package would also include medical and vocational rehabilitation services.

AIG said the new product was designed to maximise the chances of a successful recovery for businesses by starting the recovery and rehabilitation process as soon as possible.

AIG Europe property vice president, Chris Waterman said: "We knew a year ago that disaster recovery was becoming a big concern for SMEs and we wanted to provide an office based product that would give them practical, as well as financial support.

"We see Office+ Disaster Recovery as a tremendous differentiator in this highly commoditised sector, that will give a real edge to our broker partners."
