Matt Hicks, chief executive at Recorder, discusses the new firm’s entry for the Excellence in Technology – Technology Service Provider award

1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the Excellence in Technology – Technology Service Provider category?

Recorder is a new entrant to the insurance broking software house market.

Matt Hicks, chief executive at Recorder

We have invested heavily in research and development over the last 12 months and we are really excited to start to see the impact our product has had on brokers businesses – getting recognition and validation from a brand like Insurance Times will help to grow the Recorder brand.

2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Recorder was founded by a team of second-time entrepreneurs who previously built and scaled a business serving the banking industry.

Many of the same principles we applied in banking in our previous business around data quality and portability also apply within the insurance industry.

Our fresh perspective and approach in this market means our software offers something totally new to ambitious brokers that want to scale up their businesses efficiently.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Getting validation for an industry leading publication like Insurance Times would be huge for Recorder at this stage of business. It will help grow and legitimise our brand with both insurers and brokers in the commercial lines market.
