Bridgehaven Insurance has appointed Doug Humberstone as its new head of claims.

Founded in 2023, Bridgehaven is a UK hybrid fronting insurer in commercial and specialty lines.

The claims team works alongside MGA partners and associated third-party administrators to manage claims and ensure fair outcomes for customers.

According to Bridgehaven, this function provides insights “on emerging trends across the classes of business insured by Bridgehaven, as well as providing guidance and leadership on complex claims”.

Commenting on his appointment, Humberstone, said: “I’ve been keenly watching Bridgehaven’s successful entry and growth in the UK market over the past year and have been impressed by market reception to this unique fronting model.”

Experience

Humberstone brings more than 40 years of experience to his new role, having worked in senior claims roles across the market.

Most recently, he held the position of delegated authority claims manager at Brit Insurance.

Other roles he’s served in include London market claims vendor claims manager at Hiscox, as well as underwriting and claims operations manager at the Lloyd’s Market Association.
