’Having been part of the organisation for the past few years, I have seen firsthand the positive impact that Flood Re can make,’ says new boss

Flood Re has appointed its non-executive director and chair of the risk and capital committee Perry Thomas as its new chief executive, succeeding interim boss Stuart Logue.

Logue has led Flood Re on an interim basis since August 2024, replacing outgoing chief executive Andy Bord. Thomas, meanwhile, has been involved with the reinsurance scheme since October 2021.

In his new position leading the organisation, Thomas will be responsible for strengthening stakeholder relationships to address flood risk, implementing strategies for resilient flood insurance and helping to ensure Flood Re contributes to driving stability and effective responses to floods and climate change.

Speaking on his appointment, Thomas said: “Having been part of the organisation for the past few years, I have seen firsthand the positive impact that Flood Re can make.

“I am committed to working with the Flood Re team, insurers and government bodies to continue improving flood insurance accessibility and affordability, especially in light of recent flooding events and the potential impacts of climate change that underscore the importance of Flood Re’s mission.”

Succession

Flood Re is a joint reinsurance initiative between the UK government and insurers, which aims to make the flood cover element of household insurance policies more affordable.

Bridget Rosewell, chair at Flood Re, added: “Thomas’ experience and strong understanding of Flood Re make him the ideal leader for this critical time.

”We are confident that under [his] leadership, Flood Re will continue to make significant strides in supporting UK homeowners at risk of flooding.

“I am grateful to Logue for leading the organisation since August 2024 and for his time as chief financial officer, setting the business up for success with Thomas’ arrival.”
