’I am delighted to be taking up this role at such an important time for our industry and our members,’ says new appointee

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has appointed ex-RSA leader John Levett as its new head of regulatory affairs.

Levett succeeds Steve Morrell and will take up the role with immediate effect.

The appointee joined the LMA in October 2023 as a senior executive for regulatory affairs and has worked on a range of consultations with the FCA and Prudential Regulatory Authority.

He joined the firm from RSA, where he was the senior regulatory lead for just over a year.

From 2017 to 2022, meanwhile, Levett worked at the FCA as a technical specialist in general insurance compliance.

In his new role, he will report to Arabella Ramage, legal director at the LMA.

Ramage said: “The LMA is fortunate to have someone of Levett’s experience and knowledge of the insurance market as we work towards ensuring our members are appropriately represented, with respect to regulatory regimes, around the globe.”

Levett added: “I am delighted to be taking up this role at such an important time for our industry and our members.

”Smarter regulation can only help reinforce the London market’s global reputation as the centre of insurance and reinsurance technical expertise.”

Succession

The appointment comes following Morrell’s decision to retire, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Sheila Cameron, chief executive at the LMA, said: “As well as wishing Levett all the very best in this new role, I’d like to extend my thanks to his predecessor Morrell for all his hard work over many years for the LMA.”
