’The team and business are in great shape,’ says appointee
Axa UK has appointed Joel Markham as its new director of schemes and delegated authorities (SDA).
Markham announced the move on Linkedin, with him taking up the position midway through January 2025.
He takes up the role after spending two years as head of schemes sales, marketing and operations.
“I am really excited to have been asked to lead Axa Broker UK’s SDA business,” the appointee said in a post on LinkedIn.
“The team and business are in great shape and I am very thankful for the opportunity. It’s great to have the backing of the SDA leadership team, SDA colleagues and ExCom.
“Looking forward to engage our partners in my new role and very exciting times ahead for us all.”
Experience
Markham first joined Axa in 2020 as head of sales and marketing, before taking up his most recent role in 2023.

Before this, he was the head of broker distribution for personal and commercial lines at Ageas.
Other insurers he has worked at include Allianz, with him holding the roles of underwriter and business developer during his three years with them.
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
