Lloyds TSB Insurance has launched the first phase of its supply chain collaboration with Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA).

The deal, announced in February this year, is part of Lloyds TSB Insurance's substantial investment in its 'claims re-engineering' programme, which will deliver a more customer-focused claims process.

This first stage of the five-year collaboration between the firms sees the appointment of a number of specialist suppliers who will help deal with claims.

The first appointments to the roster include two buildings repair solutions suppliers, ROK and Improveline, to deal with buildings claims.

The appointments also include two glazing suppliers, Martindales and Pilkingtons, and a disaster restoration firm, Rainbow International, to deal with repairs and restorations following fires, floods, and other accidental damage.

With these companies in place, customers will no longer need to source their own suppliers and provide estimates.

As part of the new collaboration, all personal and commercial household policies will now be processed through a new internet-based system, provided by supplier management firm Eqos.

Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB Insurance, said: "As well as the obvious mutual business benefits of joining forces with R&SA, the supply chain collaboration is allowing us to make huge strides towards improving our entire claims process."
