Plan to target brokers in county that is 12th biggest customer
Lloyd's chairman Lord Peter Levene will tomorrow open Lloyd’s first Irish office in Dublin, the Irish Independent reports.
"Ireland is our 12th biggest source of premium income in the world," Levene said. "It's a good market for us. Our aim is to build on the business we have here.”
Gross Irish premium income of €167m last year -- the bulk of it on property or liability insurance -- was down from €230m in 2006.
Brokers targeted
Levene hopes the Dublin office will increase awareness of the Lloyd's brand among Irish brokers and potential corporate and public sector customers.
Lloyd's insures or re-insures Irish commercial and public bodies, including the GAA, Ryanair and CIE.
