Liberty Mutual is to restructure its UK operations in the wake of its decision to provide them with a £150m capital boost.

Liberty Mutual UK will now focus on writing direct business, including aviation, casualty, professional indemnity, directors and officers, energy and engineering.

The company added that reinsurance business would be written through its Lloyd's operation, Liberty Syndicate Management (LSM). Liberty has two syndicates, 190 and 282.

LSM will also write direct fire business.

As part of the restructuring, the managing director of Liberty International, Ireland, Sean Rocks, has been appointed as UK chief executive. He will now manage both operations.
