LFC Insurance Group completes latest broker acquisition

Essex-based commercial broker LFC Insurance Group hac acquired £2.25m GWP Chelmsford Insurance Centre.

CIC managing director, Deborah Norton, and her broking team will be moving to LFC’s headquarters in South Woodham Ferrers.

Managing director Jerry Clayton said: “We have been looking for this type of opportunity for the last 12 months and we are delighted with the deal and look forward working with the CIC team."

It is LFC's second acquisition in recent months. It snapped up Sussex based broker Warrings last month with the business being transferred to the groups’ Eastbourne office.

However Clayton bemoaned the group's lack of space which is having an impact on its expansion plans. "It has caused us some major headaches because of a lack of space," he said. "Having recruited three new trainees, added a couple of new staff to our claims team, already made it a tight squeeze."

Clayton said the firm has secured planning permission for an extension to LFC's head office and is also considering an 11,000 sq ft site on an industrial park.

Meanwhile, LFC Shield, the group's underwriting arm is set to release it’s broker commercial quick quote system into the market.
