Kew Insurance has launched a new home insurance policy that offers environmental incentives.
The Simply Green cover complements Kew's existing Simply Secure policy and offers customers a 10% discount for making some basic changes in their homes to improve energy efficiency, such as insulation, recycling, window glazing and turning off electrical appliances.
Kew managing director, David Boynette, said: “We have devised a simple way to encourage customers to take out home insurance in a way which helps to safeguard the environment. The aim of insurance is to protect, for example, to protect homes against storms, floods and fire, and it seemed to me a natural synergy to compile insurance geared towards protection of the environment, at the same time that it is protecting the home.”
