The Irish government is expected to decide in September on the Small Firms' Association's (SFA) request for an action group for members left in financial ruin after Independent Insurance's collapse.
SFA director Patrick Delaney said the association had sent the government all the information it requested, but did not expect an answer until next month.
“In August, the wheels of the state go slower than at any other time and the picture won't become clear until the beginning of September,” he said.
