ONE Group chief operating officer Ian Gilmour
Snap happy...
My favourite hobby, apart from work, is photography. Over the years I have spent more money than I care to admit on manual and digital SLR cameras and equipment. I have entered a few competitions in my time and display many photos in my office for inspiration and encouragement.
Monkey heaven...
The best holiday I ever took was to Barbados. Everything was absolutely perfect, the dream holiday. The new dream is to visit Borneo to visit the orang-utans and gorillas and laze on the beach in stunning surroundings.
Essex-boy racer...
My first car was a Ford Capri, Mk1 Facelift. Being an Essex-boy I suppose it was always going to happen, but I’m still embarrassed to admit it!
Pop idol...
I am a bit of a Michael Buble wannabe. I have sung solo, with a band or playing my guitar, at three fundraising gigs for Macmillan, which raised over £10,000 in total.
Cloak and dagger...
My first job involved private investigation work. My most memorable cases involved posing for photos at a bigamist wedding; surveillance for a dodgy Personal Accident claim, sitting in a pinstripe suit at the top of a hill with my binoculars; and waiting outside an office for six hours, only to lose the guy at the traffic lights 20 feet down the road.
Ian Gilmour is chief operating officer of travel claims and assistance specialist ONE Group.
