Domestic & General said pre-tax profits in the six months to 30 September rose to £18.1m from £14.3m, while revenue was up at £124.6m from £112m a year earlier.

The company said trading since the half-year end had been good but added that although warranty claims were expected to experience the normal seasonal increase, they would remain towards the low end of its historical range.

"Overall, we have every confidence in the further profitable development of the group," Domestic & General said.

The insurer is planning to move out of its head office buildings in Wimbledon as they were no longer adequate to meet the needs of the business, it added.
