Insurers were inundated with claims calls following last weekend's storms. Halifax General Insurance reported a tripling in the number of customers calling to report damage to their property.
While most insurers were saying it was too early to assess the level of damage from the storm, it was thought most claims were for minor damage.
Halifax General Insurance chief executive Howard Posner said: "While it is early in the day to understand the severity of the weather damage from this weekend, we are currently experiencing three times the normal amount of calls. It is too soon to know which region has suffered the worst impact, but it is believed to have affected customers across the country."
