The two Scotts, former CGNU chief executive Bob and CII director general Sandy, promised a new era for insurance training at the CII's annual conference in Edinburgh today. Sandy Scott promised the industry new modular training courses that will be available through the web or as an intranet plug-in. He also announced that the CII is in the early stages of developing broker support training for AXA and a new training initiative for Zurich.

Bob Scott outlined research conducted earlier this year that has prompted changes to the CII's training strategy and service levels to the industry. Scott said the research of life and general insurers created a need for just in time training. He explained that it is inefficient to provide training for say, travel, when someone is working in claims.

To address this, the CII is developing training modules that can be accessed through desktop PC's when they are required.

Bob Scott added that the CII's service levels were criticised. Sandy Scott then said that phone response levels and order turn around have been improved. He added that the CII is currently trainig customer relationship managers so that industry companies can communicate their training needs more effectively.
