Chubb has formed a marine insurance unit with the intention to seek more business in the international marine market, it said.
Chubb Marine Underwriters, based in New York, will provide inland marine and ocean cargo products. It will also provide marine liability insurance in the US through Axiom Insurance management, a marine speciality underwriting facility.
Chubb Marine Underwriters global manager, Rich Soja, said the move would pave the way for a global expansion of Chubb's marine products and services.
The company will be recruiting in the UK and the Asia-Pacific region to aid further growth, said Soja.
