Post-Brexit fintech strategy expected to launch on Thursday
Philip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer, is expected to launch the government’s post-Brexit fintech strategy on Thursday.
According to the weekend press, he will say the Financial Services Trade and Investment Board will choose two areas where they could work together to improve the UK’s involvement in the digital economy.
It is also believed that he will outline his plan to work closely with the Australian government, to establish a fintech relationship between the two countries.
He will also announce a new task force, to be led by the Treasury, Bank of England and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to look into the risks associated with cryptocurrencies and the prospects for blockchain technology.
