Following in-depth talks, the negotiation groups of the works councils (including Germany's biggest labour union Ver.di) and the management of Allianz Deutschland (ADAG) have agreed on key points relating to the reorganisation of Allianz's insurance business in Germany.

The compromises now reached include the agreement to prolong job guarantee for some employees at Allianz's German business by two years until at least the end of 2009. The company also abandoned plans to close its Cologne office and postponed the closure of its Dortmund office until 2012.

Dr Gerhard Rupprecht, CEO of ADAG for the negotiation group of the management, said: “We have worked together with the works council representatives to find ways of giving even greater consideration to our employees' interests as regards the reorganisation, without having to sacrifice our economic objectives. The new operating model will be put in place on schedule.”
