AIG wants the US federal government to set up a claims tribunal to oversee the resolution of insurance issues related to the World Trade Centre (WTC) disaster, according to a report in the Financial Times.
Maurice Greenburg, chairman of AIG (the world's largest insurer by market capitalisation), said he was hoping not for a federal bail-out of the industry but a forum with federal judicial oversight.
Greenburg's remarks were reported by Alice Schroeder, a well-regarded insurance industry analyst at Morgan Stanley, said the FT.
