Deal on the largest AIG sell-off would create California giant
AIG is close to selling its US motor insurance business 21st Century to Swiss insurer Zurich Financial Services for roughly $1.5bn, Reuters and Bloomberg report.
It would be the largest sale for AIG since its rescue by the US government.
The combination would make Zurich, including the Farmers unit, the largest motor insurer in California, according to 2007 data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
AIG and Zurich declined to comment.
