The Youlgrave Water Company was thrown a lifeline at the last hour yesterday by Zurich Municipal.
The waterworks had been threatened with closure because it was struggling to find a new insurer after its £5m public liability cover was not renewed by Cornhill Insurance.
It had until last night to arrange cover or its operations would be taken over by Severn Trent.
The company said it tried more than 20 companies and did not receive a single quote until this week when it finally received two, and accepted Zurich Municipal's.
A Youlgrave spokesman said that Zurich Municipal had "saved the day".
The waterworks has been supplying water in the Peak District for 173 years.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
