The industry waited in anticipation and then exploded as the shortlist for the 2009 Insurance Times Awards was revealed.

Insurancetimes.co.uk broke the news that brokers big and small, along with the rest of the industry, had been waiting to hear. A mass of traffic was recorded after the Insurance Times Awards 2009 finalists landed in the inboxes of online subscribers. With the winners to be announced at the ceremony at the Hilton Metropole on 4 December, the countdown has well and truly begun.

If you have a favourite Insurance Times Awards memory, a few classic photos from past events, or you just want to tell everyone how much you’re looking forward to the big night, drop me a line with all the details.

Following sharply in impact was John Kitson’s announcement of his impending departure from Aviva in March. Online readers scrambled to the site to understand the reasons behind his decision. Since Christmas, Kitson has entertained visitors to insurancetimes.co.uk with his colourful and insightful blogs before, during and after the insurer’s major rebrand. The sales and marketing director’s popular updates will no doubt be missed.

Speculation over a potential fundraising at RSA resulted in a mass of online coverage, including the Guardian website’s Market Forces blog, which responded to a dip in the insurer’s share price and a dispute over whether RSA’s chief financial officer George Culmer had in fact said anything new at an investors’ day. Also, keep an eye out for the latest five stories everyone else is reading.
