According to the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association (VBRA), irresponsible short-term action by insurers is putting the industry at risk.
The Association said that insurers are agreeing to pay claimants substantial amounts for relatively small or short-term injuries in cases where claimants have caused the injuries and believed it would cost more to defend than to pay.
This is resulting in insurers increasing premiums because of growing year on year claims and failing to defend irresponsible claims. The Association suggested a long-term view would provide more sustainable benefits.
