Domestic & General said trading for the current year had started well. It said results had shown growth in the UK warranty turnover had slowed, but that its claims ratio had improved.

The company, which sells domestic appliance insurance and call centre services, said the external telephony market remained challenging but added that measures had been taken to improve the group's performance.

Chairman Nicholas Rochez said: "Overall, the board remains confident of the group's prospects."
