Towergate Underwriting has acquired a specialist scheme book of business from Hill House Hammond.

It said the book was worth more than £4.25m in gross written premiums.

The book comprises of the portfolios of Let Property and non-standard Home, Caravan and Trailer tent, Yacht and Pleasurecraft insurance.

Towergate group executive chairman Peter Cullum said: “These portfolios are an excellent fit for Towergate's existing range of specialist products that are already underwritten successfully by Towergate and will add further weight to our presence in these markets.”

Group chief executive Tim Johnson, added: “We have a strategic objective of growing our existing centres of excellence by acquisitions and these portfolios confirm our intention to become the number one player in our specialist markets.

“These are quality portfolios, with strong customer loyalty, and we look forward to further developing them.”

Towergate has committed itself to double its size over the next two years to reach £400m in annual gross written premiums.
