RSA best performer with 9.47% rise
No LSE stocks on our watchlist experienced any drops over the week. Some share prices managed to make significant increases, although most of these were banks. At 21.16%, RBS’s share price made the biggest leap to 55.65p; Lloyds TSB’s shares rose 9.69% to 108.29p; while Barlcays and HSBC increased 4.84% and 3.53% respectively.
Of the insurers, RSA was the best performer, its shares rising 9.47% to 129.7p. Shares in Admiral, Hiscox and Amlin, which all announced their half-year results last week, increased by a respectable 4.08%, 7.91%, and 3.51% respectively.
Chaucer’s share price rose a small 2.95% in the week before its results were expected.
AIM-listed stocks on our watchlist were all relatively flat. The most impressive rise, 22.64% over the week, came from CBG Group – despite its revenue falling to £4.86m for the first half of 2009 from the £5.66m it made in the same period in 2008. The most dramatic downturn in price was Gable Holdings, whose share price dropped 10.87% to 10.25p.
Meanwhile, Resources in Insurance Group’s share price plunged 9.52% to 47p.
