Surveyors working for one of the UK's biggest property agents will be appointed representatives (AR) under FSA insurance selling regulations.
The move comes at a time when the regulation of property managers has come under the spotlight.
Savills carries out property management, including insurance sales, through Savills Commercial (SC), its property services company. SC trades under the name FPDSavills.
SC will become an appointed representative of Savills Private Finance (SPF), the group's IFA and general insurance broking arm.
SPF head of insurance Richard Lowe said that SPF was already FSA authorised for its IFA activities and would vary its permissions for its general insurance activities.
