Standard & Poor's said it raised two insurance pi ratings in February, but lowered and withdrew four more.

It said the pi insurer financial strength ratings provide an opinion on the insurer based on solely on information available in the public domain.

The ratings agency said it raised the ratings for MACIF, France from BBpi to BBBpi, and for Santam, South Africa, from A-pi to Api.

It lowered the ratings for Medicale de France, France from BBBpi to BBpi, and for Societa Reale Mutua di Assicurazioni, Italy, from Api to BBBpi.

The ratings for Winterthur Assicurazioni SpA, Italy and for Nuova MMA Assicurazioni SpA, Italy were both withdrawn.
