Standard & Poor's (S&P) has assigned a BBB long-term counterparty credit and insurer financial strength rating to Arab Insurance Group.

The outlook for the ratings of the Bahrain-based reinsurer is stable.

S&P said the rating was based on the company's good competitive position in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as its very strong capitalisation.

An offsetting factor in the rating was the company's adequate operating performance, said S&P.
