Revenue from RAC's Financial Services operations jumped 24% in the six months ending 30 June 2004.

Revenue went up from £4.2m in the first half of 2003 to £5.2m for the first half of 2004, said the company as it reported its results for the RAC plc.

It said: “The business continues to show potential, developing steadily over the past 12 months, albeit from a small base, and now operates a broker panel of 20 leading insurers.”

RAC's Business Services Division, which provides support for RAC Financial Services through claims handling and marketing to business clients, also reported an increase in revenue.

It said revenue for the division went up to £566.8m, up 6% on the £535.1m reported for the first half of 2003.

For the group as a whole, pretax profit more than doubled, up from £15.4m in the first half of 2004, to £33.9m.
