Professional indemnity (PI) broker PYV has set up two helplines to assist solicitors with their PI insurance needs and provide quotations.

The first helpline is aimed at practice managers to provide advice on the structure of a 'best fit' PI programmes and general risk management handling tips.

The second helpline, the distress risks helpline, is aimed at helping those who are having difficulty getting PI insurance as a result of their adverse claims record.

PYV said many practices are often told they are uninsurable when in fact they are. The distress risks helpline can help diminish the risk of practices applying to the Assigned Risk Pool, it said.

The helplines are being run by PYV's dedicated solicitors team, manned by PI insurance experts and will enable solicitors to obtain confidential PI insurance advice and quotations.

PYV director Nick Pointon said: “Our research shows that practice managers receive conflicting advice about PI insurance and are fed up with empty promises.

“This is why we felt the need to set up a dedicated practice managers helpline that offers them good quality service and expert advice.”
