Poland's government has pulled out of a deal to sell finance group Eureko control of Poland's largest insurer, Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen (PZU). This will prolong the long-running dispute between the government and the Netherlands-based insurer.

The state treasury minister Wieslaw Kaczmarkek said the government was planning to begin work with Eureko on an issue prospectus for an initial public offering for PZU next year.

Eureko has reportedly infuriated Polish officials by publicising the dispute and attempting to link it to Poland's EU bid.
