The pair will jointly head Novae’s syndicate 2007 management liability unit
Novae Syndicates Limited has appointed Janet Edey and Matthew Carr jointly to head its Syndicate 2007 management liability unit.
Between them they have over 35 years’ experience of underwriting directors’ and officers’ insurance (D&O) for large institutions and corporates as well as the SME market.
Latterly they held positions at HCC Global Financial Products and, prior to that, they spent 15 years with AIG where they were responsible for the formation of the original CorporateGuard product range. Both have held senior management positions.
At Novae, Janet and Matthew will be charged with developing the current book of management liability business for the syndicate and for the group’s insurance company, writing both major and SME accounts.
Peter Matson, Novae Group’s chief underwriting officer, said: "Attracting such a well-established and experienced team to Novae underlines the opportunities we can offer both in the Lloyd’s and companies markets.
“Janet and Matthew bring with them a wealth of technical expertise, having been extensively involved in product innovation throughout their careers. In a market where cover needs to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and requirements, their expertise is a valuable asset and I’m confident that they will establish a broad and high quality book of management liability business from both the insurance company and Lloyd’s platforms."
Edey, said: “We’re relishing the challenge at Novae. The current book is embryonic and we have been charged with spearheading the drive into this line and building an extensive and wide-ranging portfolio of high quality management liability accounts.”
